The exterior tooth enamel layer on each of your teeth provides them with the hardness to efficiently bite and chew food before swallowing. Sometimes trapped bacterial deposits and lingering plaque acids caused by poor oral hygiene practices can gradually start to demineralize tooth enamel. In time a small cavity can start to develop on the surface of a tooth.

With early detection a small area of tooth decay might be treated by having our dentist install a composite dental filling. After a thorough examination Dr. Ashok Jhanji will numb the tooth and remove any traces of decayed tooth enamel. During this phase of the treatment he will also create a healthy surface to bond the dental filling.

Composite dental fillings can be shaded to mimic the natural appearance of tooth enamel. After it has been applied and hardened by an ultraviolet light the new dental filling will seamlessly blend with the rest of the healthy tooth.

Remembering to brush your teeth each morning and night as well as flossing once per day will help reduce your chances of suffering another cavity.
